In October this year, SkillSoft published their first global benchmark study– in which they compared and contrasted employee attitudes towards learning and development across the US, the UK and Europe.
The survey gathered views from employees from the private sector (from organisations employing in excess of 500 people). A total of 6,100 employees were surveyed, broken down as follows:
• US – 2,000
• UK – 2,000
• Rest of Europe – 2,100
The survey provides the views of both managers and non managers across a range of job functions including IT, marketing, customer services, finance , HR and others.
This survey looks at the employee perspective on
- Does your organization provide the training that is essential for you to do your job effectively?
- Does your organization provide the training that is essential for you to develop professionally and progress in your career?
- Do you think it is essential for your organization to allocate specific time for learning and development during working hours?
- How essential do you think it is to be given the opportunity to put into practice what you have learned as soon as possible afterwards?
The report also looks at the top 10 tasks undertaken without proper training by US, UK and European managers and non-managers, the importance of managerial support and views on essential learning options ( blended learning, informal learning, formal learning).
